How will you implement MMSEL course when you were becoming a teacher?

Me??Hemm…

Well, it has been a long time ago since I attended to the MMSEL class, I never felt bored in joining this class, even once. I don’t know why, but the fact is when there was any new topic which was discussed in the class, I had always been excited and never wanted to miss it. I remember once when the activities of teaching at the school partner finished, I rushed to the campus because I didn’t want to miss this class. Yes, there are many things that I have learned from this course and you know that if at that time I chose to not attend on MMSEL class, then I would be left behind and there was nothing that I could learn from.
As an educator candidate, I found this course is really helpful for my career as an educator in the future. It helps me to explore a range of models and strategies that will serve as a foundation for developing a personal approach to classroom management. On the other hand, it also much gives me knowledge about student motivation to learn, student problem behaviors including aggression, bullying and violence, and how they influence classroom management to meet the needs of all learners which all of them are important as to create the positive learning environment and effective teaching. If I were a teacher, of course I would try to implement what I got here in my classroom. But, the question is how I will implement all of these when I was becoming a teacher?
Of course, there are a lot of ways that can be done. But, in my opinion, to create a circumstance that is effective for students to learning, the first thing that I would probably do is identifying the background of students who will I teach before designing the learning strategies and determining a set of classroom rules and its consequences as to be dealing with them in the learning process. Yes, at least when I got some information about their characters, prior knowledge, learning styles, and also their interests, I would probably find the best teaching method and leaning strategies which are suitable with them and hopefully can increase their motivation in learning. Motivation is a necessity, so without motivation, how learning becomes a continuing, improving, and enjoyable process, right? In my opinion, motivation is like a pump. So, when we as teacher can find ways to motivate our students to learning, we might be able to encourage them to reach their potential, goals and dreams.
Students are not only intellectual but also social and emotional beings. Since all of these dimensions may interact to impact their learning and performance in the class, it is not fair for them if I as their teacher just concern on the method that can increase their motivation to learn. I think I will also concern on the way building positive relationship with them. I realize that conflict among students or problem behaviors like bullying, drug are likely happen in the classroom. If I did not try to prevent the behavior problems, then how could I make teaching and learning process run well? As reflect to my own experience, to look for the solution to problem behaviors will not automatically get rid of the poor attitude of these children, but is to establish a positive relationship through communicating with them intensively and giving feedback for them. However by having established a positive relationship with students, I think it will much encourage students to seek education and be enthusiastic in the learning process.

Hem,,, maybe That’s all for today’s reflection. I hope this will inspire you. Hehehe
