Project Reflection

Finally my group project of motivation is done. I am glad of having opportunities to hold this project. Let me explain my project first before I reflect it.

The title of my project is “Maintain Our Culture”. It is a project to motivate the 2012 SSE students to maintain the culture of SSE especially leadership and “family” value. The motivation form is sharing session and also games which contains of the two values above. We plan to make it in three times meeting but in doing so it just once meeting because of the limitation times of participants and us. Moreover, the schedule is change from 3 hours meeting become 2 hours meeting because the exits of another event.

The result of the project is not perfect. The lack of this result happened because the reflection of participant is not really deep; again it may causes by the limitation time and unprepared of the reflection guide. The limitation time happened because the full schedule of both of participants and us during December and January. That two months is the two last months in even semester so it become hectic months in studying and preparing the exam. Moreover, December become last months in non-academic period so it is become hectic of events. Fortunatly, January is not really full of non-academic events so we can take one of the days become the day of our project. Actually we plan in two meeting but because of makeup class of participants, it becomes one time meeting.  I think it will better if the project as like this hold at the beginning of the even semester.

The lack of the reflection is also caused by the unprepared reflection guide. I and my team already plan to make the reflection guide so we can lead them to write the things that we need to know but then it miss because we focus to others preparation. Then, we asked the participant to reflect in big theme “SSE in my eyes”. Their reflection become general and we have difficulties to analyze it. Additionally, some of them write the reflection shortly so we cannot see the reflection that we need to know. Aha, just now, I have idea to interview them to explore their thinking after the motivation session. The lesson learnt is when I as a teacher want to know the specific perspective of my students’ thinking; I have to make the guiding questions so I can lead them to write their thinking specifically.

Everything has negative and also positive things, so do our project. Although the lack appear from the reflection but there is strength which is comes from conversation during the session. The first session is about the “family” value. The facilitator asked the difficulties of them in engage to others cohorts. They explain the difficulties and then the facilitator asked them about the solution and some of them said that they need sharing session like my project so they will know more and more and it will inspire them to engage to others. They said that they afraid in engage because they think there are some barriers but after having the sharing, they know that the barriers is not exist. I glad to hear that things and I become proud of the project I hold, even it is short but they appreciate it and it is useful for them. Sharing is always have a way in connecting our thinking and opened our thinking of new things and also old thing but in different perspective. Someday when I become a teacher, I need to often share with students.
