Problem Behavior, Bullying, Aggression, and Violation in Education

Dasrizal

Previous topic was presented by group which talked about problem behavior, aggression, bullying, and violation in education. These things are cases which often occur in school context. As teachers, we have to know this knowledge and understand how to prevent or even solve this when they are happening in our schools.
In my understanding based on the presentation, problem behavior is action of students that disturbs teaching and learning process, but somehow the action doesn’t hurt others. For instance, a student is operating his/her Blackberry while a teacher is speaking. It actually disturbs him/her to study, but it doesn’t disturb others. Therefore, teacher should try to stop this behavior, so that the teaching and learning process runs well.
Meanwhile, bullying, aggression, and violation are things that cause others to feel hurt. These actions may cause students to feel fear to come to school. It means the teacher should really concern with this if it really happens in school. Teachers should search the right information if we get a new that this action occur. Then, we need to clarify the case and ask the responsibility of the doer.
If I am asked whether I have been bullied before, I can say nothing because I think I’ve never been bullied orally or physically. Well, I would like to tell another way of bullying; it is a kind of isolation. When I was in junior high school, I was a student who liked to sing on stage, but I was never given a chance to do so in any school events. Finally, I didn’t have much self-confidence. However, I meant it wisely. When I entered the senior high school, I made that isolation to be a motivation to be better.
Here is the point of the story. Bullying, violation, or anything can be happening in many faces. Teachers should be sensitive and understand students who get this intervention. The role of teachers, I think, is to clarify the case and prevent it not to happen in the future. Then, students should be motivated to make the bullying to improve themselves. Yes! That’s the teachers really mean to.
