The First E-Reflection
First time, I want to say sorry for Bu Maryam Mursadi (Miss Mima) as a lecturer of Motivation and Managing Students for Effective Learning (MMSEL). I cannot join for the first meeting in this semester because I joined the event at University of Indonesia. For my consequence, I write my reflection after I read the presentation of PowerPoint. But if there are some mistakes, please give me a correction for my explanation about motivation.

Talk about motivation, i think that the important thing for someone to get their goal in this life. If they have not motivation, they will be lazy. Motivation can bring someone to find the way of their life. It can from internal and external. It means intrinsic motivation that comes from our self. For example, when you want to face National Examination, you must learn and motivated yourself to get good score. For extrinsic, it comes from external yourself. For example, you will get reward if you can pass the examination from your parents.

If I get the question, “Should teachers focus more on fostering intrinsic motivation or extrinsic motivation?” I will answer it, it depends on situation. If students have bored, stress, and they get the difficult topic, teacher must to motivate from external. Teacher can give some reward if somebody can answer teacher’s question. But, teacher does not always give the reward (extrinsic motivation). It can make students cannot control their motivation by themself. So, as a teacher, teacher must to guide students use their motivation by themself first and then, if they get stress, teacher should to develop their motivation from external.
