My Secret Story about Motivation
Hana Sofiyana (2010110039)
After the first meeting in Motivation and Managing Students for Effective Learning course, I more understand about student’s motivation. But I understand the meaning of student’s motivation in general. I think motivation like a stimulus to doing something to reach the goals. However, not only the goals can motivate students. I think environment also can influence student’s motivation. In addition, I experience both of factor which is internal factor (my goals) and external factor (my friends) that stimulate my motivation.
Now, I want to tell you about some of my story when I have low motivation and high motivation. Someday, I have a goal to get A score in Calculus 3. However, I got B- in Calculus 1 and C+ in Calculus 2, so it makes me have a low motivation in Calculus course. I haven’t confidence enough to continue in Calculus 3. Unfortunately, I have to take the course. Well, I start to commit with myself that I have to get A in Calculus 3. So, I study hard to get A and asking my friends when I get confuse with the materials. Fortunately, I get A score in Calculus 3. At that time, my motivation is really high because I can reach my goals.
Currently, I have high motivation to teach my private students. It happens because I need money to cover my personal needs. Although I feel little bit bored and tired, but I have to do it. Well, my main motivation is money as external factor, but I always try to maintain my quality of teaching. However, it’s difficult enough for me but I always back to my needs. Situation and money is dominating my motivation. I guess, my motivation will be low if I have enough money to cover all of my needs and not really need money. That’s my entire story...
