Is it important to create positive classroom climate in teaching and learning process?

When we talked about climate, the first thing that might appear in our minds definitely was something that relate to the climate change. It sometimes feels hot, cold or even dry, right? So, how about the classroom climate? Heem.. If we try to relate the condition with the classroom climate, I think we will come up with the idea that it will be quite similar in terms of its change. Yes, classroom sometimes looks like so attractive, functional, comfortable or even bored. Even though there are many factors that are contributed to create those conditions like the lesson, teachers or even the people around. But, in my opinion, as with many factors, teachers are likely being the most crucial one that is contributed a lot to create those conditions because she/he has a role to not only create learning activities that allow students to engage, develop and flourish, but also to stage manage what happens in the classroom. So that is why, as learners and educators candidates, we have to know that creating positive classroom climate in teaching and learning process is important. However it is needed by teachers to get right if they want to create a classroom where learning is highly valued. Real learning cannot take place in a negative classroom climate, in the same way that plants will not grow if the soil is not right (www. classroom-management-success.org)
From the last meeting, I’ve got to know that a classroom must have a positive climate. The children must feel a sense of security and the environment must be conducive to take safe challenges without fear of ridicule. Yes, early when I went to the school, I got a fact that a positive environment is one of the most important aspects that are able to develop child with the positive self efficacy to take safe challenges. As if a child fears shame and yes, ridicule from peers and teachers, they will commonly avoid taking risks to protect themselves from embarrassment.
A teacher, therefore, ought to be aware that the classroom climate is the most important condition for learning to take place. However the learning environment will dictate how well or poorly a child will learn. Since creating a positive learning environment in the classroom gives impact toward students in learning such as allow students to be more likely to be self-motivated and feel comfortable, safe and engaged, I think teachers must develop positive attitudes and perceptions about learning among students in order to make the classroom a less threatening and intimidating place.
In summary, a classroom should be a safe place for learning. The student must be free from not only physical hurt but also, hurt from the words of their peers and teachers. when teachers create positive classroom climate, students learn better. Yes, every student must feel safe and important in the class in order for maximum learning to take place. A positive classroom climate does not just happen, the teacher creates it.
