In this week
in MMSEL class I have learn about climate variables. During the teaching and
learning process in classroom, teacher and students needs positive classroom
climate. In MMSEL class with Miss Mima, I have read an article. In this article
said that the positive classroom climate is a climate of the classroom where
the students and also teacher can work together as learner and teacher can help
the students to find the goal in teaching and learning process. Teacher can
create the positive climate in classroom begin with observe the four climate
variables such as order and safety, success, challenge and task comprehension.
During the
MMSEL class I have discussed with my group about the climate variable and the
video as the examples of the implementation the climate variables. In first video show the climate class where
the teacher teaches using lecture methods and the students as a good listener
during the lesson. Actually I am ever things that the means of order and safety
during a class session is the good atmosphere in actively, so the students can
pleasant to learn. Because of that, in my opinion the first video is not order
and safety because the some students not enjoy and bored I think. After I have
discussed in class, I understand that order
and safety in this topic means that the climate variables that support students
with sense of physical and emotional security so the learners can feel the
predictable learning environment. Safety and order is not only about
enjoy in class but about how far the students feel safety and not afraid join
the class session, and the teacher can given students classroom agreement.
In the next discussion in MMSEL class I have talked
about how teacher promote success in
teaching and learning process. Like in the second video that showed the teacher
guide their students to understand the material by develop the lesson with
questioning and prompting students when they have difficulty answering. Other method to make students success in
learning process is using open-ended questions, using variety of high quality
examples, provide scaffolding practice and make assessment an integral part of
the teaching learning process. Dolezal
et all in article said that the success achieved by the students will not
increase the self efficacy and competence if they have to face the challenging in every task that
teacher given. So, the teacher can provide the challenging task for students to
make students confident and increase their competence.
The last variables is task comprehension that is
variables will be motivation for students to learn. In task comprehension guide
students awareness of what they are supposed to be learning and an
understanding of why the task is important to doing. In first video I did not
found that teacher provide task comprehension to students. Because the teacher
just asked students to doing the activity or lesson that students should be
understand and students did not known the meaning of this activity. Like the
activity that asked students to make resume of the teacher explain first. The
students just doing the activity without know why we should be learn this topic
today lesson.
Actually, talk about climate variables make me reflect
about teaching and learning process that i have did in SEP program. Sometimes
my students asked me why we should be learn about trigonometry, as we know that
in daily life it topic is not useful. Because of that, I should explain to and
make the students understand if the topic have many benefit in some of the
activity in daily life in example if become the architecture. After I told the
students about that, they will be more enjoy to learn in my class. That is my
reflection in this week.Thank you
