MMSEL 1st Reflection

I was getting surprised cause of the question “why you would like to be a teacher?” when I was in the MMSEL (Motivation and Management of Students for Effective Learning) class last Tuesday. I suddenly answer by telling any reason that came up to my mind. Then, I continue to reflect that question and I realize that some years ago I used to be motivated by my favorite teacher. Without any explanation, she could show me that she really enjoy being a teacher. She used to be success to inspire me that teacher is a professional because for becoming a teacher, I have to be ready to commit with all of the challenges. I have known since the beginning that teacher profession has a big challenge, but I could stay in that passion. Basically, I do love challenges. It’s probably the reason why I am still on that track. Until I arrived in this journey, I wade through the education in SSE. I think that extrinsic motivation was going to be undermined by the intrinsic motivation since I was experienced the learning in SSE.
I got I was really enjoy doing the School Experience Program (SEP) since the first semester. Even though, it was only an observation in the elementary school, I could interact with those children and it made me feel gorgeous. I do love children with their charming and I think a professional teacher could be able to harness their spirit to drive them into learning experiences. Then, I suddenly realized that education is surely my passion. I found I would be glad if I am stated to go to school for having some experiential learning especially to go to elementary school. I think I would like to be a teacher for elementary students cause I feel more interested to teach them.
I think those experiences that I got from SEP is the positive reinforcement for my passion in education. The passion grows bigger and bigger cause of it. Hence, based on the behavioral perspective, SSE is successfully driving me to develop my passion so that it becomes intrinsic motivation for me to enhance my skills for being a teacher.
Besides, SSE also guides me to be more sensitive about Education in Indonesia. I am not only getting many thought how ideally the learning process should be shaped but also I am often asked to reflect to the Indonesian context nowadays, the problems encountered and the challenges. Then finally I recognize that education is the fundamental aspect of Indonesian change. I believe that Indonesian human development is tied on the Indonesian education. It motivates me to study hard so that I could be not only a professional teacher but also a professional educator. I expect that if there are more qualified teachers in Indonesia then there will be more educated people who will lead us into a better Indonesia. Furthermore, after attend the MMSEL class, I realize that my motivation above relies on cognitive and social cognitive perspective. It’s great for me to find the connection between my own motivations to the theories. I found MMSEL is not only course to enhance my ability as a teacher to be but also as a human being.
Hopefully, there will be more unexpected experiences that are popped out from this course. I’ll wait for your surprisingly learning activities, Miss Mima. :)
